Construction Chemicals How They Are The Spine Bone Of Any Construction

A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY:

The construction scene is going through tough times in the United States of America. A large section of Hispanic population in America almost all the time work for free. Labors come cheap in some parts of the United States and a family from New York or California could invest really cheap in areas like Texas for as low an amount as one lakh sixty thousand dollars. Here is a bit of both positive and negative news which is that there is a rise in about twenty eight percent in the demand for new homes in February of the present year but a rise in only about three percent in the construction jobs.

Construction business is booming in Canada and also in the rest of the world. There is a surge in the building of apartments and residential complexes. In the rest of the world there has also been a positive growth in the firms of building materials, construction and engineering sectors. In Australia there has been a growth of about six percent last November thus heralding better days in the construction business in the days to come. The government in Australia has also been proactive in building new schools in the country and which served as the impetuous in the non residential construction sector. Analysts at the Commonwealth banks comment on the fact that the construction boom in any country could last for a whole two to three years adding a two to three percentage points to economic growth.

ABOUT A FEW CONSTRUCTION CHEMICALS:

Readymix concrete is a mixture of cement, aggregates and water. Concrete is basically a mix of paste and aggregates. The paste like component in the ready mix structure is made up of cement and water and also coarse and fine aggregates like sand and rocks. The concrete can be put into any shape. Ready-mix concrete can be used to build high-rises, sidewalks, superhighways, houses and dams.

Material for construction is used in the construction industry for constructing buildings and structures. Material for construction is vital for any construction industry.

Three New York Construction Workers Settle Injury Claims For $3.85 Million

Three undocumented workers have reached settlements in New York after being the victims of a construction accident. The three men suffered serious injuries due to extremely poor working conditions. One of the men, a plumber, was scalded when a pipe burst while he was working at a Wall Street construction site. Another of the men sustained debilitating injuries to his foot after a steel beam crushed parts of his lower body while on a construction site in downtown Manhattan. The final man was injured when three large metal trusses collapsed on him, fracturing his hip and causing several other serious injuries.

According the attorney for the three men, Brian O’Dwyer, “all three cases involve construction and terribly unsafe working conditions.” And indeed, this case is no exception to the experience of many undocumented workers; a large majority of undocumented workers are often forced to work in unsafe situations or risk losing their job. This alarming trend seems to be growing across the United States as construction jobs become harder to find amid the nationwide economic crisis. Of course, unsafe working conditions will invariably lead to more construction accidents, a sad and frightening fact for many of those involved in the construction field.

Executive director Joel Magallan of Asociacion Tepeyac, an immigrant advocacy group, said that while construction work is often dangerous, undocumented workers are likely to work at sites that lack proper safety equipment, OSHA regulation compliance, and required warning signs. According to several studies, both by local nonprofit agencies as well as national researchers, abuses of workers on construction sites are widespread. An especially high number of immigrant workers were represented among those whom had suffered either seriously debilitating or fatal injuries due to unsafe working conditions.

In light of the recent construction accident lawsuits against contractors and building site owners, there may be a positive side to the tradgedy that takes place so often on dangerous construction sites. With the victories of these three undocumented workers, the opportunity for workers who have been injured on construction sites to receive just compensation grows larger. The three men were awarded a total of $3.85 million in damages between them, money they say will now be used to support their families, pay for costly medical expenses, or pursue their dreams.

Despite improvements in safety in virtually every field, construction site accidents remain one of the most dangerous professional accidents. Many times these injuries are seriously debilitating and sometimes fatal. Additionally, workman’s compensation insurance may not provide enough to cover medical expenses, living expenses, and outstanding debt that might have accrued during the recovery time. To that end, it is paramount that workers who have been injured in a construction site accident seek compensation through the proper channels, such as contacting a construction accident lawyer when they have settled on legal recourse.

Heavy Machinery And Construction Site Accidents

Though construction accident numbers have declined over the past year, reports continue to roll out nationally and internationally regarding serious injuries or fatalities due to construction accidents. While many of these stories have involved workers in site-related accidents, such as building collapses, scaffolding failures, and falling from great heights, there seem to be an increasing number of reports of heavy equipment accidents.

Since construction projects, especially larger commercial and residential projects, typically use larger support structures and heavier building materials, heavy machinery is often used to expedite the process of moving and sometimes installing these materials. These machines pose a unique threat to the safety of construction worker, as there exist several possibilities of malfunction that could potentially cause a construction accident.

A few recent examples illustrate the potential hazards posed by heavy machinery. A skid steer, also known as a Bobcat or a front loader, is a common site on construction sites, being used to move large amounts of dirt or other heavy materials. Smaller than a backhoe or other earth-moving machines, it is a useful tool for larger construction sites. If used improperly, however, it puts the operator of the vehicle as well as those working around him in jeopardy. In three recent cases, these machines were responsible for serious injuries and in two cases a fatality.

In Alberta, Canada, two men were working excavating a basement when their skid steer toppled over and pinned them both to the floor. The men were soon rescued by emergency responders and taken to the hospital. In a tragic case here in the United States, a young boy who had gone to work with his father was killed when he fell out of his father’s lap while riding in a skid steer. Preliminary reports indicate that the child was thrown from the vehicle while his father backed up and was subsequently struck on the head by the large bucket full of dirt. In another accident involving a skid steer, a man fell seven stories inside one of the vehicles while participating in demolition work in Chicago.

These small and agile machines are most assuredly not the only vehicles involved in serious construction accidents. While not as common on smaller construction sites, cranes still play a significant role in assisting workers on the job with lifting heavy pieces of building material such as floor joists and beam supports. However, crane accidents also make up a large portion of construction accident statistics.

In a recent case in New York, a man was killed when the boom arm of a crane snapped off and crushed the operator as he was working on a bridge. Reports indicate that there is no clear reason at the moment as to what caused the boom to snap. Regardless, crane accidents could have any number of malfunctions. In international news, reports of a crane collapse which killed seven men as they worked on a rail line in India were released a few weeks ago.

Many of these workers injured in a construction site accident seek legal recourse as a method of compensation for their injuries. It is often advisable for any worker or family member of one who has been injured on a construction site to contact an experienced construction accident attorney to develop a construction accident lawsuit as soon as possible.

Workers Get Trained! Says NY Construction Accident Lawyers

In the construction industry, the importance of training is often overlooked. Whether youre a carpenter, plumber, electrician, etc., no matter what your level of experience might be, you should insist that you get the proper training for the equipment you are asked to use. All too often, serious workplace injuries occur because workers fear asking for the appropriate safe guards, and because construction companies and project engineers assume that workers already know how to safely operate the equipment and thus, do not address this issue.

For example the case of man named Albert (not his real name), whose case our firm brought to trial. At age 29, Albert already had a considerable amount of experience as a plumber when he took a new job that required him to install ceiling pipes in a building in Manhattan. In order to reach the 20-foot ceilings he had to stand on a “lift” (a manual crank device) provided by the construction company in charge of the project. When in use, a lift of this kind should only be operated with the support of outriggers. (Outriggers are legs that provide stability for the raised lift.) Unfortunately for Albert, the lift he was working on had no outriggers, and while drilling, his drill struck a steel reinforcement bar that was embedded in the concrete. The drill twisted violently and Albert and the entire lift were brought down to the ground. Albert sustained terrible injuries from this accident including torn wrists tendons, shoulder damage, nerve damage, a fracture to his head, and an arm injury that required elbow replacement surgery. He can no longer work as a plumber, and has endured terrible pain and suffering.

New York workers compensation, trial law firm of Sullivan Papain Block McGrath & Cannavo, P.C. was able to prove that the construction company was at fault because they failed in their duty to furnish Albert with the proper safety instructions on how to use the outriggers. Had they done so, the lift would have been properly supported and would have been able to withstand the force of the drill hitting the steel beam. That litigation eventually settled for a substantial sum. However, if you ask Albert, who now lives with permanent arthritis in his joints, he would tell you that he would rather have his health back.
